Why Metropolis?

Metropolis was the first movie we saw and the one that had the most impact on me. Previous to this class I had not watched a silent movie. I was used to talkies. The funny thing is that it was a German movie as well, but before talkies, that didn't matter. it was easier to take movies from country to country. It just need to be translated, change the text and it was dubbed, there was no need for voice dubbing. For my creative responses I usually responded with a letter of some sort. Like in the case of Citizen Kane, I wrote a letter, personifying Hearst, to the Mr. Orwelles to stop production on the movie he was making. For Gentlemen Prefer Blondes it was a letter from a woman in need of Lorelai's help, on how to keep a man. For Metropolis I personified Freder writing in his journal right after "Maria" changed her ways and mistreated Freder. So for the final I decided to do something similar, but people don't write in journal's anymore, they blog. So I created this website in what Freder would post his thoughts for the world to read and comment.
